Refresh, refresh

As back to school specials return to stores, it is also another special time of the year for college applications: The Common Application refresh period

Every year around the end of July, the Common Application shuts down to upload the new prompts and instructions for every college and university. For students who have been working on some of their supplemental essays, it will be important to check over every school’s application after the refresh to make sure their information and prompts are accurate.

The Common Application’s first-year application will be offline July 28-31 and the transfer application will be offline just for July 31.

Some schools may have already posted their prompts on their website, ahead of the Common Application refresh. However, most will only be available through the Common Application system (or the Coalition system, if the school uses it).

What do I do while I wait?

In the meantime, I recommend students work on their main Common Application essay and activity section. I offer one-on-one counseling on all elements of the Common Application! Get started with a free 30-minute chat to see if I’m a good fit for you.
